Daniel Zajfman, President, Weitzmann Institute of Science

Daniel Zajfman, President of Weizmann Institute of Science recently stated, “The products of scientific research which is made by people with well-defined and different  identities and cultures, is completely universal.   A new drug cures everyone independent of its religion, and a solution of an equation is the same everywhere. Moreover, in today’s world, it is often by juxtaposing and imbedding knowledge from one side of the world to the other, that new ideas and technologies are born. The United States-Israel Binational Science Foundation represents the most important link for research in the academic institutions between Israel and the USA, and as such is a critical component of many research programs taking place in Israel. Strengthening this link, and deepening the connection will only create more opportunities for outstanding researchers, on both side of the ocean, to share their knowledge for the benefit of all. It is also a highly efficient way to support excellent research, because of the professional peer review process taking place at the Foundation, so that only worthwhile research programs are being supported.”
